Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the University of Iowa’s Dance Marathon! UI Dance Marathon is the largest student-run organization on campus, and there are amazing reasons for that! As a dancer in this organization, you have the opportunity to support families within the Iowa area that have been impacted by pediatric cancer. This support will not only be seen through financial fundraising contributions, but in emotional support as well as we open our hearts to our DM Families.
Throughout the year, you will be challenged to raise a minimum $500 for the kiddos in order to attend the Big Event held in February! Dance Marathon recognizes that this fundraising contribution may seem large, but you will not be doing this fundraising alone! You will have an army of lime behind you helping you to not only reach your fundraising goal, but go above and beyond, FTK. Dance Marathon promises to provide ample fundraising resources that will fit your individual needs as a philanthropic student on campus. Once you have raised your $500 (and more!), you will be eligible to attend the Big Event on February 7th and 8th! The Big Event is a 24-hour, life changing event where we don’t sit, sleep, or consume caffeine. The purpose of this dance party is to celebrate the kiddos who have won their battle against cancer, stand by those who are still fighting, and honor those who will be forever dancing in our hearts. This event is the culmination of a year’s work, but there are so many events throughout the year to learn more about Dance Marathon, help with fundraising, and connect with our kiddos and families.
When you register, you will be able to select a morale group. You may wish to select the same group as your friends or use this opportunity to meet new friends by selecting a morale group that shares your interests on campus. Once you have completed the registration process, your Morale Captain and Lime Captain will contact you with information on how to begin fundraising. They will be your go-to people, along with other morale group leaders, for information about events happening within the organization and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Your Morale Captain and Lime Captain are here to support you in any way throughout the year and during the Big Event.
Thank you for taking the time to register and getting involved with Dance Marathon! We can’t wait to have you on our team and see all of the amazing things you do for the kids this year. Thanks again, and welcome to the Dance Marathon family!
