Dear Dance Marathon Family,
We first want to say thank you. Thank you for joining our organization, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life, and thank you for inspiring our movement. You are one of over 1,148 families that continue to touch our lives each and every day.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our goal for DM28 is to ensure that you not only experience financial support, but also the emotional support our organization strives to provide for your family through our programs inside and outside of the hospital. Once volunteering is allowed again, members of our Family Relations team will be on the 11th floor of the Stead Family Children's Hospital during the week to conduct activities. Until then, volunteers will be offering virtual playtimes and parties to bring smiles through various activities such as crafts, trivia games, and chatting. Additionally, we will continue to add multiple videos weekly to the Dance Marathon Volunteers YouTube channel to provide more engagement for your family.
Outside of the hospital, we typically host eight different Family Events throughout the year, hoping to bring all of our Dance Marathon families together with our organization to spend a fun-filled day. As of right now, we are unsure what the future will bring for in-person family events. However, we are hopeful to provide additional experiences to safely connect your family to Dance Marathon. There will be more information to come. Please refer to your biweekly Family Liaison email for any updates.
If you would like to be more involved within Dance Marathon, joining the Family Representative Program allows your family to be paired with a Dance Marathon member to keep you informed about events while creating more personal relationships within our organization.
During DM28 we are dedicated to ensuring your family’s needs, both before, during, and after treatment, are unsupported. No matter where you are at in your journey, we will always be right by your side. For any questions regarding Family Relations, please never hesitate to contact DM-FamilyLiaison@uiowa.edu.
Striving To Do More,
Brylee Yirkovsky and Megan Wadle
