1st Annual Spin-A-Thon Community Day
IOWA CITY, IA - The University of Iowa Dance Marathon has paired with local gym in North
Liberty, Performance Health & Fitness, to host the 1st annual Spin-A-Thon on January 27, 2018.
100% of the donations will go directly to the University of Iowa Dance Marathon—where
Performance Health & Fitness projects to make $10.000.
This half-day spin event will consist of an indoor bike ride, where teams of 2-6 will peddle for 6
consecutive hours, rotating as needed (only one rider per team peddling at a time). The event will
have live music, entertainment, organized kids activities, and other types of incentives.
Deadline to register for this event is January 13, 2018. T-shirts can be ordered by January 10,
“The entire staff at Performance Health & Fitness is beyond excited to host our first annual
Spin-A-Thon. When Michelle Erwin, one of our front desk associates and student at the
University of Iowa, asked us about getting involved with Dance Marathon, we knew we had the
perfect facility and member base to make a difference FTK! For the past three years, we’ve
hosted a very successful “DriTri” in late February and knew we had the equipment, facility,
amenities, and more to host a large-scale indoor fitness event. With more than 30 Keiser brand
indoor bikes, and a 25,000 square-foot fitness facility, we hope our team cycling event will raise
$10,000 (or more) for Dance Marathon.
A lot of us have personally, myself included, been close to patients at the University of Iowa
Stead Family Children's Hospital, and see first-hand the impact donations make to them and
their families. It is truly an honor for us to be able to use our skills, capabilities, and facility to
give back to our community and those being served here,” said Mary Brown, Director of
Marketing & Communications at Performance Health & Fitness
