UI Dance Marathon Lime Days
Iowa City, IA – University of Iowa Dance Marathon will be having a week full of events aiming to spread awareness about the organization. This week, known as Lime Days, will be taking place September 19th-September 23rd, with a different theme each day.
Monday’s theme will be ‘Dance Marathon on Display’, taking place on the Pentacrest from 10 AM – 2 PM. There will be interactive games, an opportunity to register for Dance Marathon, and several signs and boards aiming to share Dance Marathon’s mission with the entire campus. On Tuesday from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Kautz Plaza, students can attend Lime-A-Palooza, a childhood cancer awareness carnival including games like Knock ‘Em Down and Bucket Toss. There will also be a Family Round Robin on Tuesday evening at 7 PM in Currier Hall. This is an opportunity for dancers to meet some of the wonderful families Dance Marathon supports.
On the Wednesday of Lime Days, there will be a Virtual Reality display of the brand new University of Iowa’s Children’s Hospital on the Pentacrest from 10 AM to 4 PM. This is an incredible and unique opportunity for everyone on campus to get a glimpse of all the new developments that will be possible at the new hospital later this year. Wednesday’s activities also include posters and family crafts.
Thursday’s event, Relay for Lime, will take place in Hubbard Park from 6 PM – 9 PM. There will be tables set up for people to register for Dance Marathon, and for those already registered to get help with their fundraising. Bring your best relay race game and get a chance to see some Morale Captains get pied in the face for a good cause!
Closing out Lime Days will be the Goal Reveal Event on Friday, September 23rd from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Hawkeye Room of the Iowa Memorial Union. There will be several stories shared of the kiddos and families involved in Dance Marathon, as well as karaoke and snacks, all leading up to the public reveal of Dance Marathon 23’s fundraising goal.
Lime Days aims to promote Dance Marathon’s presence on the University of Iowa campus, while making new connections and involving students and other organizations. It is an annual week-long effort to spread as much lime as possible.
