University of Iowa Dance Marathon
The University of Iowa Dance Marathon creates and sustains special projects to provide emotional and financial support and services for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and their families treated at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
We are a group of fighters, believers, leaders, and supporters. 3,000 students chose to take on a battle with one of the worst enemies of mankind, pediatric cancer. Every year, too many young lives are taken from us too soon, and we cannot allow this reality to continue. As an organization, we choose to fight, and we choose to fight together. This year, Dance Marathon will embrace the newly introduced campaign, “We Fight Together,” a statement that will embody the resilience and perseverance of our organization. Our campaign reflects how we will strive to change the lives of the kiddos and families at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The kids that fought or are currently fighting cancer are the biggest warriors, and they deserve a group of supporters that are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure cancer will not win. As a team, we proudly stand alongside the bravest kids, the strongest families, and the best nurses, doctors, and volunteers. We will defeat cancer, cancer will not defeat us. We stand our ground together. We embrace hope together. We Fight Together.
We have raised $27,508,627.59 for the kids!
The University of Iowa Dance Marathon is a student organization that provides year-round support to youth cancer patients and their families. The Big Event is a 24-hour Dance Marathon where students assemble to celebrate the children survivors and remember the children who have passed away throughout the year. Dancers remain standing (if able) for the full 24 hours with no caffeine allowed! This year the Big Event is February 7-8, 2020. Please continue through the site to find more information about our activities and events. Thank you.
