DIH stands for "Dancing in Our Hearts," which is a term we use to refer to the kiddos who have passed away from their battle with cancer. Although we use symbolic words to offer a less tragic outlook on what these kids have gone through, there are no rose colored glasses for the loss these families have experienced.
At UIDM, we remind our DIH families that we will always be here for them. For those who have lost a child, Dance Marathon is so much more than a Big Event and millions of dollars. We hold a DIH Memorial event each fall, recognize DIH Day each winter, and support specific DIH programming throughout the year and our Big Event. We honor these families by telling their stories, saying their names, and keeping their memory alive. A child, a sibling, a best friend, a teammate, and so much more will forever be missed.
We offer you some of their stories here and invite you to read them, keep their memory alive, and keep them Dancing in Our Hearts.
