Dear Members of the Press,

The University of Iowa Dance Marathon (UIDM) is the largest student-run organization on our campus, engaging nearly 3,000 students each year in a shared mission to support children battling cancer and their families. For over 31 years, we’ve committed ourselves to providing emotional, medical, and financial assistance to the pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Dance Marathon is more than just a fundraiser, it’s a year-round movement. Our students host awareness campaigns, organize fundraising initiatives both large and small, and build strong relationships with the families we support. These efforts all culminate in February during our signature event: a 24-hour Big Event where participants stay on their feet to celebrate the strength of our kiddos and the power of hope. To date, UIDM has raised over $37 million, funding everything from treatment expenses and family grants to comfort items and long-term support services.

As the Public Relations Director for Dance Marathon 32, I welcome any media interest in our mission. Whether you’re covering our large-scale events, looking for human-interest stories, or seeking insight into student leadership and philanthropy, UIDM has a story worth telling. Our events are driven by compassion, energy, and a deep sense of purpose, each one offering a unique lens into the heart of our organization.

On this page, you’ll find recent press releases and media materials that provide an inside look at our events and impact. We’re happy to coordinate interviews with leadership members, dancers, or families, and we can assist with media access to any of our upcoming events.

If you are interested in covering an event, conducting an interview, or learning more, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at dm-publicrelations@uiowa.edu.

You can also access our official DM32 Press Kit.

Thank you for your interest in sharing the stories that matter.
