In DM3 the marketing team did an extraordinary job of getting some TV PSA spots locally to help raise awareness for the event. The University President, Mary Sue Coleman was kind enough to film one and we had reached out to Tom Arnold's team to see if we could get him to film one as well. We hadn't had any luck coordinating with his publicist, to find a date and time where he would be willing to sit down for a few minutes.
During one of Iowa's home football games, we became aware that Tom was in town and chased him from location to location until we finally ran into him at his hotel. Tom was kind enough to film the spot using our homemade queue cards, and even helped punch up the script a bit. It definitely helped raise DM’s profile in year 3 to see the event promoted on local TV.
