At the University of Iowa Dance Marathon (UIDM), advocacy means using our voices, actions, and platforms to uplift, support, and stand with those within and beyond our community, especially those who have been historically underserved or underrepresented.

As an organization committed to compassion, awareness, and community impact, UIDM believes advocacy is not just about words, it's about learning, showing up, and leading by example.

Advocacy is Everyone’s Responsibility: You don’t need a title to be an advocate. At UIDM, advocacy is a shared commitment. Whether you’re in leadership, part of a committee, or a first-year dancer, you have the ability, and the responsibility,to help make UIDM a space that reflects the values we strive to uphold: respect, empathy, and action.
