Elle Smith
Hi! I’m Elle, and I’m serving as the Public Relations Director for Dance Marathon 33. I became involved with Dance Marathon because pediatric cancer has affected my family personally. I lost two of my cousins to pediatric cancer and my dad to stomach cancer, and their memories continue to shape why this organization means so much to me.
Dance Marathon has given me a place to turn grief into purpose while becoming part of a community that truly feels like home. Through this organization, I have met some of my closest friends and found a way to use my passion for storytelling and communication to support our kiddos, families, and mission. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share the stories that make UIDM so meaningful and help others understand the impact they can make.
Dear dancers,
Thank you for choosing to be part of Dance Marathon 33. Every person brings something different to this organization. You may have a personal connection to the cause, know someone who has been affected by cancer, or simply want to make a difference. No matter what brought you here, your involvement matters.
My biggest advice is to take the time to understand the mission and get to know the people around you. Attend events, listen to our families’ stories, and remember the meaning behind every dollar you raise. Dance Marathon becomes so much more meaningful when you allow yourself to fully be part of the community.
Be proud of the impact you are making and the commitment you have chosen to take on. I hope UIDM gives you friendships, memories, and a sense of purpose that stay with you long after this year ends. We are so grateful to have you here. UIDM is a better place because you are in it.
Love,
Elle
