Glenna was on a class trip to Japan during high school, and while there, she was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. Through a blood test, it was discovered that she had leukemia. Glenna spent eight days in the hospital in Japan, alongside her parents, getting over her pneumonia before her and her family flew back to Chicago. Straight from the airport, Glenna’s family drove to the University of Iowa to begin treatment. Glenna spent twelve days at the UIHC when she first arrived back from Japan, and even got to take her senior pictures around UIHC while there.
Glenna has just passed her two year mark of treatment, and will be completing her treatment in November of 2018. Glenna is looking forward to starting her freshman year of college at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, studying art and art history.
